Cricket Control Services
As crickets hop their way into garages and basements, cricket control becomes a top priority as chirps keep you awake at night. Crickets are occasional invaders that pose no risk to humans. These insects feed on decomposing plant matter, leaves, fungi, and fruit, making them found commonly around the exterior of structures in mulched areas. These areas provide the food source that crickets need as well as protection from predators. Cricket Control is included in our Quarterly Pest Control program.
House crickets and field crickets may become interior pests, especially during extended dry weather. Residents are often alerted to their presence when they hear the “chirping” of the males. Both sexes may damage stored clothing, papers, photos, etc. with their chewing, or by staining these items with their fecal pellets. Camel Crickets, Cave Crickets, Brown Crickets, and other varieties are common nuisance pests in Central Pennsylvania.
Keeping crickets from entering structures is achieved by physical exclusion and the use of several cricket control materials. Sealing entry points tightly such as cracks and gaps in weather stripping will reduce opportunities for crickets to enter. Keeping garage and other entry doors shut during summer months will also reduce chances for entry. Applying materials around the base of structures and minimally indoors will help to control crickets should they enter a structure.
